The Russian military has unveiled a new repair and maintenance facility for its naval station at the Syrian port of Tartus by allowing several Russian media outlets to visit. The main structure of the new facility could clearly be seen behind a Channel One journalist in a report aired on 23 September. The structure corresponds with an 85×25 m building that Maxar satellite imagery shows was built in the part of the port that has been taken over by the Russian military since it launched its intervention in Syria in 2015. Construction work started sometime between 12 February and 29 April. There is also a second new building that is probably for storage and support purposes.
