The United States is planning to extend the main pier at Mina Salman naval base in Bahrain by 305 m. The move was revealed by a notice posted on the US Federal Opportunities website on 13 November seeking contractors to carry out the work. The notice, said the formal solicitation should be released in December, the contract will be worth USD20-100 million, and the work should be completed in 730 calendar days after the contractor begins work. This will represent a second significant expansion the Mina Salman in a decade. The first began in 2009, when the container terminal next to the naval pier was closed and taken over by the US Navy.
