The US Army has awarded BAE Systems a USD318 million contract to upgrade its M88 recovery vehicles into an M88A3 configuration. Under the 44-month contract the company will deliver eight M88A3 prototypes to the service by 2022 for testing, BAE Systems told Jone's on 17 September. The new configuration is expected to eliminate the need for two vehicles to raise and move a single Abrams MBT.
