Australia is bidding to increase defence exports to Southeast Asia as part of a wider push to deepen strategic engagements across the region, David Johnston, the Defence Export Advocate of the Australian government, has told Jane's. Speaking at the Singapore Airshow 2020, Johnston said a strong Australian business presence at the event, which saw many international firms withdraw over concerns about the Covid-19 corona-virus, was evidence of Australian defence companies' commitment to securing sales and forming partnerships in the region.
