US unmanned aircraft manufacturer General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc (GA-ASI) has acquired a majority of the assets of UK Controls: a small US firm that provides stabilisation, pointing, and tracking systems for cameras, sensors, and antennas. The acquisition encompasses UK's facilities, intellectual property, and work force, GA-ASI said. The workforce includes electrical, mechanical, software, and systems engineers. GA-ASI said that the transac- tion would help it develop and field improved payloads for its unmanned aircraft. "The addition of UK to GA-ASI adds critical capabilities in the development of electro-optical/infrared and radio frequency gimbaled and turret-based systems for advanced airborne intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, communications, and weapons," the company said.
