The upgraded Project 1155M frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov began its factory sea trials in the Sea of Japan on 10 July, the Pacific Fleet's press department announced the same day. The ship is the first of the Russian Navy's seven Project 1155 anti-submarine warfare (ASW) frigates that could be converted into multipurpose frigates during their modernisation. The Project 1155M was designed by United Shipbuilding Corporation subsidiary JSC Severnoye Design Bureau, which developed the original Project 1155 frigate. JSC Dalzavod Ship Repair Centre in Vladivostok has been upgrading Marshal Shaposhnikov since 2016. More than 20% of the ship's superstructure has been updated, while the platform's hull and Kingston valves have been repaired and electrical wiring and mechanical components have been installed. New shaft lines have been produced and cables have been relaid to accommodate new weapon systems.
