French Armed Forces Minister Florence Parly and UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace marked the 10th anniversary of the Lancaster House defence and security and nuclear treaties on 2 November with a joint declaration reviewing their co-operation under the accords. They used the occasion to declare the full operating capability (FOC) of the Combined Joint Expeditionary Force (CJEF) they had agreed to establish. The force can now deploy over 10,000 troops during crises for missions ranging from disaster relief and humanitarian assistance to peacekeeping and high-intensity warfare. Wallace said, "Having a highly capable, high-readiness force is essential if we are to protect both UK security and the security of our NATO allies."
