Four Belgian F-16 fighters took off from Florennes airbase for Al-Asraq, Jordan, on 29 September to participate in coalition operation 'Inherent Resolve' against the Islamic State for a year, the Ministry of Defence tweeted on 30 September. Belgium's Council of Ministers approved the deployment of the aircraft and a 95-strong support detachment on 26 June. The Belgian F-16s will conduct reconnaissance missions, protect coalition ground troops, and fight the Islamic State in Iraq and northern Syria.
