South Korea's Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) has launched the country's new long-term plan aimed at developing technologies in crucial areas of military capability. The new 2021-35 Core Technology Plan, unveiled on 22 March, will provide direction in the country's efforts to develop "future high-tech" military equipment and systems, said DAPA. The plan encompasses the requirement to develop capabilities in 140 core technologies across eight areas of vital defence capability: 1. Autonomous and artificial intelligence (AI)-based surveillance and reconnaissance systems 2. Highly connected intelligence, command-and-control systems 3. Ultra-high speed and high-power precision-strike systems 4. Future propulsion systems 5. Combined manned and unmanned combat systems 6. High-tech personal combat 7. Cyber response and future protection systems 8. Future advanced new technology
