Two French firms - private equity house Andera Partners and investment bank Bpifrance - have acquired northern France-based MC2 Technologies, which makes systems to counter hostile unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in both military and civilian settings, according to Andera. The transaction will allow MC2 to "embrace a very ambitious development plan at a global level by providing substantial human and financial resources", Andera said. Andera and Bpifrance raised more than EUR50 million (USD58.9 million) to finance the deal. The acquisition will return MC2 to 100% French ownership, which the company's management team believes is important to its French government customers, Andera said. MC2 was previously owned by a Chinese investor, according to French media. MC2's products include the handheld, gun-like Nerod, which disrupts a UAV by jamming its communications with its pilot.
