Guinean President Alpha Conde announced on 4 February 2020 that a referendum to approve a new constitution would be held on 1 March, alongside a new date for the legislative election announced the previous day. The parliamentary poll should have taken place in September 2018, but has been repeatedly postponed because of belated reform of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) and electoral roll revision.
