The four 'pathfinder' technologies that the United States agreed to provide India during President Barack Obama's three-day visit to New Delhi in late January 2015 are "basic and ancillary", claim Indian military officials and industry executives. Under the new Defence Trade andTechnology Initiative (DTTI), the United States will partner privately owned Dynamatics in Bangalore to manufacture Aero Viron-ment RQ-11 Raven hand-launched unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and to extend their operational range by 6 km to around 16 km. Knowledge will also be transferred for roll-on/roll-off intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) and search-and-rescue (SAR) packages for the 18 Lockheed Martin C-130J-30 military transports that the Indian Air Force (IAF) will eventually operate.
