Al Marakeb Boat manufacturing Company unveiled its B-7 unmanned surface vessel (USV) at IDEX 2015 in Abu Dhabi. The Sharjah, United Arab Emirates-based company started developing USVs in 2009, Nour Al Sayyed, a director at Al Marakeb, told IHS Jane's, adding that development of the B-7 finished in late 2014 and the vessel first went in the water in January of this year. While the B-7 is the current manifestation of Al Marakeb's USV technology, Al Sayyed is quick to point out that the technology is more about the 'unmanned' element of the system than the vessel itself, noting that the capability can be modified and integrated onto any suitable vessel.
