As part of ongoing modernisation efforts centred on automation and mobility enhancements, the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) has commissioned a new 6×6 protected mobility vehicle based on Renault Trucks Defense's Higuard mine-resistant ambush protected (MRAP) platform. The new vehicle, designated the Peacekeeper Protected Response Vehicle (PRV), will replace the ageing Textron Marine & Land Systems (formerly Cadillac Gage Textron) Commando V-200 armoured personnel carriers (APCs) that have been in service since 1970.Accord-ing to the Singapore Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), the V-200 APCs are planned to be phased out in 2016.
