The US Navy (USN) is to finally begin upgrading its current fleet of Ohio-class ballistic missile submarines (SSBNs) with the latest sonar hardware and software processing equipment in fiscal year 2017 (FY2017). Once the effort is completed in the 2020 time frame, all USN submarines will have the most up-to-date versions of the Acoustic Rapid COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) Insertion (ARCI) capability in US service.
