A functional model of the seeker planned for the Brazilian Mectron-Avibras Missil Anti-Navio de Superficie (MANSUP) indigenous anti-ship missile has been successfully tested by its designer, Omnisys Engenharia (part of France's Thales Group). This followed the announcement in November 2013 that the seeker had passed its preliminary design review and was to start testing. The MANSUP programme began in late 2011 when the Brazilian Navy's Department of Navy Weapons Systems signed contracts with local industry. The missile is being developed by the navy and Brazilian companies including ARES Aeroespacial e Defesa, Fundacao Aplicacoes de Tecnologias Criticas-Atech, Avibras Industria Aerospacial, Mectron - Engenharia, Industria e Comercio, and Omnisys.
