The US Navy (USN) was set to commence acceptance procedures with the second Engineering, Manufacturing and Development (EMD-2) Fire Scout MQ-8C vertical take-offunmanned aerial vehicle (VTUAV) as IDR went to press in early December, with the first flight planned for later in the month. Meanwhile EMD-1, which has been undergoing testing at Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu, California since 31 October is in the midst of verification/regression flights with the goal of flying Fire Scout up to 12,000 ft before 29 November, Captain Patrick Smith, Fire Scout programme manager told IHS Jane's in late November.
