India's Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has unveiled a "new and improved version" of the rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicle (RUAV), the company told Janes. With increased tension between China and India, HAL has shifted its RUAV development to suit the Indian Armed Forces' intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) and logistics requirements at the Sino-Indian border. The development started in 2019 following an Indian Army requirement for a high-altitude and low-temperature troop re-supplying mission.
