The Spanish Navy (Armada Espanola) sits at an interesting strategic juncture today, in terms of its operational profile and the construct and capabilities of the fleet that supports these operations. Maritime security dominates the domestic security agenda, with the political elements of Spanish strategy relating to the use of the sea focused on maritime security operations. However, the navy itself is engaged at sea in a much broader range of activities.
