On 4 June 2016, Norway's new logistics and support vessel (LSV) HNoMS Maud was launched in South Korea at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering's (DSME's) Okpo shipyard. On the other side of the world, the Royal Norwegian Navy (RNoN) is eagerly awaiting delivery of the largest warship it has ever operated, one with the flexibility to support a range of national and multinational operations. Commander (sg) Thorvald Dahll told IHS Jane's that the 180 m, 26,200-tonne full-load displacement ship's primary role is to support RNoN and multinational task groups. The LSV's commanding officer (CO) added, however, it "can also act as mothership, with mooring and fendering arrangements, for submarines, corvettes, mine-countermeasures vessels, or special forces".
