Turkey's Ministry of Defence Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (Savunma Sanayii Muestesarligi - SSM) is planning to kickstart its next-generation TF-2000 anti-air warfare frigate programme in the coming months, with plans under way to launch the design phase of the project by the end of this year. Speaking to IHS Jane's at the IDEF 2013 exhibition in Istanbul on 7 May, Mustafa Seker, head of the undersecretariat's naval systems department, said the SSM was expecting to receive approval to begin the project in earnest from the next executive committee meeting (taking place in June).
