British Army AgustaWestland/Boe-ing WAH-64D Apache AH.l attack helicopters have conducted their first live-firing exercise from a Royal Navy (RN) warship, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced on 13 May. During the mission, which was part of a long-planned exercise near Gibraltar dubbed 'Cougar 11', Apaches operating from the helicopter carrier HMS Ocean engaged simulated targets with their nose-mounted 30 mm chain gun and AGM-114 Hellfire air-to-surface missiles. The MoD did not disclose if the targets were located at sea or on land.
