1.Moroccan frigate launched Morocco's FREMM multimission frigate, Mohammed Ⅵ, was launched by French shipbuilder DCNS in Lorient, Brittany, on 14 September. Displacing 6,000 tonnes, the ship is similar to the Aquitaine-class frigates and is expected to be delivered in 2013. DCNS is providing the SETIS- based combat management system, integrated navigation system and hybrid propulsion system. 2.JHSV takes to the water The first of 10 Joint High Speed Vessels for the US Navy was launched by Austal USA at its Mobile, Alabama, shipyard on 8 September. Spearhead and its 2,395-ton sister-ships will be used as fast intra-theatre transports with the ability to carry 635 tons of personnel and materiel distances of 1,200 n miles at speeds of up to 35 kt.
