Norway's Kongsberg Maritime has completed the purchase of United States-based autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) enterprise Hydroid LLC on a debt-free basis for approximately USD80 million. The Norwegian stock exchange was notified of the completion of the deal, which had been delayed by regulatory checks, on 16 June. Kongsberg announced its takeover target in December 2007 and, through its subsidiary Slmrad North America, had hoped to conclude the acquisition In the first quarter of 2008. However, the process was slowed by regulatory requirements in' the US, principally the need to satisfy anti-trust laws.
