The significance of the Covid-19 pandemic has forced navies and their supporting organisations to review operational processes and planning, which is leading to greater efficiencies as a result, according to speakers at a recent international webinar. "For us it actually meant that in some cases we had to re-invent the wheel, which is not a bad thing if you operate the same class of submarine for 25 years," Captain Herman de Groot, head of the Royal Netherlands Navy's (RNLN's) submarine service, told the 'The Teamworking in the Underwater Domain' webinar, hosted by the Undersea Defence Technology (UDT) exhibition team on 26 May. "The crisis forced us to look at how we did things and how we can do things better."
