摘要

Urban Renewal can be said to be the process where an urbanrnneighborhood or area is improved, rehabilitated or redeveloped.rnThe renewal process involves a wide range of activities which mayrninclude demolishing or tearing down old buildings, constructingrnnew up-to-date housing and adding new urban amenities. Overallrnthe practice was so similar in US and Nigeria, both countries havernincluded public participation in the process, the only differencernwas that US have involved private sector at the beginning of thernproject and China has completely followed a different module,rnthey developed the urban renewal project only by the Governmentrnand community’s participation. In conclusion through therninternational experiences which took place under the urbanrnrenewal program, we have determined a number ofrnrecommendations in bellow due to deal with the slum problemsrnand to make the method applicable for Kabul city.rn1. People should be involved and aware from the entire project.rn2. Religious and historical buildings should be preservedrnaccording to their cultural value.
