Long-term Damage Test of CaF_2 Optical Window under Irradiation of 4ω Nd:YAG Laser

Damage tests of optical windows have been performed under irradiation of an all-solid-state 4ω Nd: YAG laser. In the case of a fused silica window, the transmitted UV power decreased by 13% under irradiation with 1.8 x 10~8 pulses. On the other hand, the decrease in UV power was less than 1.5% for CaF_2 windows. By using a highly purified CaF_2 crystal as an optical window, a stable 4ω output of 600 mW was obtained with a deviation within 1.8% for irradiation of up to 9 x 10~8 pulses.
