Since steam locomotives fueled by steam, running on the two rails, had put into practical use, railway systems have been continuing to innovate upon technologies for the purpose of "safety", "speed and "mass transit" constantly carrying person, goods and value. Now, the introduction of high-speed railways such as "TGV and ICE" is in progress around the world. High-speed railway systems, which are superior to air plane in "safety" and "mass transit", are been introducing in many countries and areas, and passenger transportation is undergoing major changes. The commercial operation of the Shinkansen in 1960s in Japan gave great impact in these developments.
