The environment surrounding of station works is dramatically changing along with aging population and low birthrate, as well as the decreasing number of experienced station staff due to retirement. From now on, how to promote labor saving, while maintaining and improving the quality of customer service, will be a big challenge in railway business. To meet this challenge, our company developed a station remote monitoring and control system which has been in operation since February 1999. Recently, taking advantage of our knowledge, we have developed a next-generation station facility remote monitoring and control system which is designed to monitor and control larger areas than before, and commenced the first operation in the spring of 2012 and full-scale operations from December 21, 2012. Here we describe the features of the system.
