摘要

In this present investigation the methodology of application of a numerical method to simultaneously predict the pressure distribution and area of contact in the railroad rail-wheel contact system under normal load from the dual integral equation for the compatibility of (a) the normal elastic displacement and (b) the transverse curvature along the longitudinal axis of the contact zone has been discussed. The suitability of the method has also been compared with another simplified approach based on experimentally obtained foot-prints.
