TECHNICAL TEXTILES WERE coated on large scale with the goal of ob- taining waterproof and strengthened textiles. Applications among other things are technical tarpaulins for buildings and vehicles, as well as tents, conveyor belts, and home textiles. Despite the outstanding price-performance rations of PVC-coatings (Figure 1) on technical textiles, there is increasing interest in alternatives that do not contain chlorine because of their ecological acceptance.
