摘要

A modification of the Czochralski growht systemj consisting of a ciruclar disk atached to the pulling rod has been used dueing the shouldering of Bi_12SiO_20 single crystals. Experimental resutls show signficant changes to the melt-crystal interface shape and faceitng behavior from the use of disks of differnt materials. A simple mawthematicla analaysis of enclosure radiaiton provides a self-consistent explanation for the observed changes in terms of system thermal gradients and lthe intenstiy of melt convection.
