摘要

This book is a fairly comprehensive examination of the various ways in which students, law schools, and administrators respond to the US News and World Report (USNWR) rankings of Law Schools that are released each year. The authors, both sociologists, use the seven chapters of the book to first discuss their question and its importance, and then to dig deeper into the rankings and the responses they invoke, through interviews with law school students (prospective, current, and past), professors, administrators, and employers. Each chapter is peppered with anecdotes and quotes from various agents involved in the law school industry, most indicating how students and law schools have responded to incentives created by the rankings.
