摘要

Effect of green tea polyphenol to bacterial adhesion on collagen membrane was analyzed for their adhesion activity with two important wound causing pathogens such as Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Methanolic extracts of green tea polyphenols was prepared and checked their efficacy against the pathogens namely S. aureus and P. aeruginosa under in vitro conditions which is currently used for various medicinal purpose. Microscopical evaluation revealed the increased concentrations of green tea polyphenol (2000 μg/ml) decrease the bacterial adhesion. Number of bacterial aggregates produced by S. aureus was 56.3×10~5 on plain collagen membrane whereas the collagen membrane incorporated with GTP was totally reducing the bacterial adhesion at the concentrations of 2000 μg/ml. Likewise bacterial aggregates produced by P. aeruginosa also reduced up to 34 at 2000 μg/ml when compared to plain collagen (31.3 × 10~4).
