摘要

An attempt was made to observe the structural changes in the liver and muscle of the fish Labeo rohita exposed to acute (7 mg/l) and subacute (0.7 mg/l) concentrations of cadmium. The changes are observed at day 1 and 3 in acute concentration and day 10 and 30 in sub-acute concentration. Cellular necrosis, atrophy, haemorrhages, tubular vacuolization, shrinkage of hepatocytes of liver were seen at day 1 with more severity of such changes at day 3, and toneless, exfoliation of nuclei, haemorrhagic condition were seen in the muscle of the fish at day 1 and bending of muscle fibres with heavy fibrillation were noticed at day3 under acute toxic stress. In sub-acute concentration, initially some degenerative changes like cytoplasmic vacualization and disorganization of liver cords in liver and thickening of muscle fibres and pyknotic nuclei were noticed in the muscle of the fish at day 10 and those changes intensified in degree with heavy loss of tissue integration at day 30.
