Varying concentrations (1000,750,500,250 & 125 ppm) of Lantana camara extract against sugarcane pest {Chilo infuscatellus early shoot borer) under laboratory condition was studied. At 1000 ppm concentration of L. camara, highest mortality of C. infuscatallus was noted in all solvents of Hexane, Petroleum, Chloroform, Acetone & Water. L camara extracts with Acetone was found to have highest mean percent corrected mortality of larvae (24.3%) when compared to L camara extracted in different solvents. Effective treatment such as Lantana camara extract with Acetone was selected and studied for their impact on protein profile changes in early shoot borer by electrophoresis method. Many protein bands including storage protein band were reduced and also two new protein bands were formed in the haemolymph protein of early shoot borer by electrophoresis. This reduction of protein bands may be due to the impact of L camara extract. This protein changes in the early shoot borer larvae may have resulted in the highest mortality of these larvae in the First day after treatment even in the lower concentrations in all solvents. Thus, L.camara extract is an effective insecticide and may be recommended as an insecticide against pest Chilo infiiscatellus.
