To be distinguished as a Master Breeder in Canada is both hard work and an honour. An honour that has only been bestowed upon 755 Holstein Canada members in the award's history since the first shield was given in 1929. Now, only 20 to 21 Master Breeders are awarded each year by Holstein Canada - chosen for their exceptional ability to breed generations of durable and productive Holsteins. While few farms in Canada have had the honour of becoming a Master Breeder once, there are a select group of breeders who have managed to reach this outstanding milestone three times. One of those farms is the infamous herd of Quality Holsteins of Woodbridge, Ontario, Canada. Known worldwide for their years of esteemed breeding in the Canadian dairy industry, the father-son duo of Paul and Ari Ekstein, have a passion for breeding quality animals that is both a family business and a shared family pastime.
