On November 13, 2013, a document containing a complete draft of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement's chapter on Intellectual J Property Rights was leaked to the world through the WikiLeaks Web site. The TPP agreement was negotiated in August 2013 between representatives from the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Mexico, Malaysia, Chile, Singapore, Peru, Vietnam, and Brunei in complete secrecy. The document is very informative because it details which negotiating countries proposed specific articles and which countries opposed them. The leaked TPP shows that the United States is pushing for a stricter approach to intellectual property rights, while most of the other countries propose a more flexible approach.
