Metro and light rail Achieving PTx2 will see the number of urban public transport trips triple by 2025. Thus increasing capacity, efficiency, punctuality and service comfort are important factors now and for the future. Driverless unattended metros (UTO) can potentially improve both service performance and economic efficiency. The most obvious possible advantages of UTO systems include reduced staff and operating costs. The possibility of varying service frequency without increasing staff numbers was also presented.
