摘要

Public transport in Turkey is based on ru-ber tyred bus transportation system such as buses, minibuses and shared cars (dol-mus). The use of buses as public transport is higher than railway systems. However, public transport sector is growing in Turkey, and the future investments are focused on railway systems. Therefore, Turkey has become an "attractive point" in terms of public transport sector. There are many railway system projects under construction in many cities such as Adana, Gaziantep, Diyarbakir, Antalya, Deni-zli, Konya, Kayseri, Samsun, Eski ehir, etc. The first part of Aksaray-airport light rail system (Otogar-Ak-saray) became operational in Istanbul in 1989. Then connection to Esenler became operational, and the last part of light rail line was connected to the airport. With the help of new railway systems, residential areas such as Esenler and Yenibosna have become more attractive resulting in population increase in surrounding area.
