The first stage of a new bus rapid transit (BRT) system, launched in March 2006, has had a huge impact on influencing the travel patterns of local residents already living in an area of north Kent, just to the east of Greater London. Now, with the launch of the second BRT route, the focus is on influencing the travel choices of the future residents of a major development even before they arrive. This paper provides an overview of Fastrack and its progress to date.
