For more than a decade there has been a structured European research effort on Intelligent Public Transport Systems OPTS) whilst at the same time, operators and authorities across Europe have been Investing in new and enhanced systems. IPTS covers a broad range of customer-focused and support tools, including: fare collection systems, traveller information systems, operations management and control systems and safety and security tools. It is now time to take stock - clearly identify what has been developed and deployed, what is now in demonstration mode and what concepts are in the pipeline.
