摘要

This paper presents the integration of a radical perspective into a graduate social work course on psychosocial assessment and psychopathology. The author discusses the gradual transformation of a graduate course on psychopathology from one that focuses on individual pathology to one that deconstructs psychopathology and examines mental disorders within a social, political, and economic context. Case vignettes are used to exemplify situations in which it is to the benefit of society to pathologize behavior in order to maintain the status quo, support corporate profits, and/or promote and expand capitalism.
