Both authors of this book were on the management team for this brave and much-appreciated but fated railway operator's launch, and the views of others so involved - including chairman Adrian Shooter -are extensively quoted. This is therefore very much recent history from the inside, but it is also a 'warts and all' portrayal, and does not avoid self-criticism or clear exposition of the circumstances conspiring against the survival of this service.
