The IRS-1C uses a monopropellant propulsion system with 1N and 11N hydrazine catalytic thrusters to impart the necessary impulse in pressure blow-down mode. The propulsion system is capable of providing velocity increments to spacecraft for acquisition, removal of injection errors, maintenance of orbit and 3-axis control over the planned mission life using 84 kg of hydrazine on board. The system design allows complete redundancy with no probable single point failure modes. Other features include modularised clusters of 1N thrusters and components with an all-welded system tubing construction.
