The paper deals with an extended thermodynamical description of a thermoelastic heterogeneous and anisotropic body in which th4 finite deformation occurs. Based on a nonconventional way of descrip- tion of the heterogeneity and anisotropy of the solid, an interesting form of the total stress tensor has been obtained. That form may account for the thermoelastic energy dissipation and the thermoelastic hysteresis effect in such media in which, for instance, a loading-unloading process may occur.
