We examined characteristics and alteration tendency of traditional access space that is composed of public alley and shared-passage, in Kudus' historic area based on actual situation and residents' evaluation, and verified that: (1) The characteristics of access space were caused by village ownership of the area originally. (2)The residents either Prefer (45/100) or do not object the situation of access space (40/100) due to various comforts and conveniences. (3)Distribution and spatial composition of access space tend to remain due to dispensable alteration, whereas form Articulation and greenery embellishment tend to change.
