摘要

Gerald Bosworth Carter died peacefully with his family by his side, at his home in Tunley, on 24 February 2005. A true Gloucestershire craftsman, master weaver, born naturalist and countryman, he will be greatly missed. He was a member of the Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsman for 55 years and head of the textile department at the Gloucester College of Art and Design for twenty years. There he taught spinning, dyeing and weaving and conducted evening classes for adults whilst running his main workshop at his home, Sherra. As a weaver it was said that 'what he didn't know about weaving was not worth knowing' and many of his contemporary craftsmen weavers would go to him for help and advice.
