It has always been hard to make a living from weaving, even for textile graduates, including those who go on to take their MA at the Royal College of Art (RCA), Far too few find positions in the textile industry which allow them to achieve their creative potential, and too many of them end up in employment wholly unrelated to their training. Ann Sutton frequently observed this waste of talent when she was teaching at the RCA. It was a source of great concern to her and she determined to do something about it.
