摘要

Following my BA in textile design at Chelsea College of Art and Design, London, I spent the next two years completing a Masters in woven textiles at the Royal College of Art. These extra two years of study gave me the opportunity to develop unusual and surprising woven textiles. My interest in producing textiles that are never quite what they seem to be has lead to the creation of a collection of woven fabrics which defy the eye of the viewer. Taking my inspiration from traditional handcrafted and folkloric textiles, I have been developing new weave effects to create and interpret the appearance of hand-stitched, appliqued and embroidered surfaces. Shortly after my arrival at the Ann Sutton Foundation I was selected as one of the twenty-four designers chosen to exhibit in Textprint at the international textile trade fair Indigo in Paris. Textprint provided me with the opportunity to present my work in a commercial arena, to build a network of links and to sell my work on an international level to companies such as La Sedera and Jones, New York.
